I have voted in almost every election since I turned 18 (more than 20 years ago). From president, to governor to mayor to alderman, I proudly cast my vote. But I just don't know if I will be at the polls this election day. I am so disappointed! I need you all to get me enthusiastic! Can you do it?
Below are my problems, my issues, my reasons for maybe, just maybe staying away from the polls on election day. Add your comments, and if they are really convincing, I might just make it out to the polls on November 2. If not, I guess I'll sleep in.
Here are my gripes. It's not so much what President Obama did, but what he didn't do. I am one disappointed Democrat!
yeah, I know he reformed healthcare, so what! He didn't give us a new public option for millions of Americans. Oh wait he did-- starting in 2014 20 million more Americans can get coverage by Medicaid, a true public option. You win this round, but I have more!
Okay, he signed financial reform. But we need a powerful, independent consumer protection board, designed by someone who really cares about the consumer (like Elizabeth Warren). Oh wait, he did appoint Elizabeth Warren to head the consumer protection board.
Yeah, I know his economic stimulus program created as many as 3.3 Million new jobs, but what about all the jobs it DIDN'T create. My brother and sister STILL have no job and they haven't worked ONE DAY during the entire Obama presidency. For shame Preisdent Obama! I admit they are only 11 years old, but what is America coming to when its pre-teens are not bringing home a paycheck.
You might say he saved the American automobile industry and over 1 million jobs. But Detroit won't be worth saving until they invent a car that can drive itself. Oh, wait, Google is testing one.
I know what you're thinking- we Kossacks (in the comments) have given lots of good reasons to vote. But you really haven't. Because there are some things President Obama's has simply not done, and all the begging and pleading in the world won't convince me otherwise.
In the halcyon days after the president's election, I, like so many other Obama supporters, dreamed that he, at last, could bring real change to America. But he hasn't. He's failed miserably to bring the three changes I MOST wanted, and all of us most expected.
- ROBOTS- Where are my robots! We were promised robots to do our household chores; robots to make our dinner; robots to do the laundry; robots to babysit our kids. But do I see any robots? NO! And the Roomba doesn't count people! If President Obama can't bring me a walking, talking, household chores-doing robot, then I just can't bear to vote!
- Lottery Tickets- or, specifically, lottery winning numbers. Every American deserves the right to win a large mega-million dollar prize, at least once. It's in the bill of rights, I think. And President Obama has done NOTHING to bring it about. Winning the lottery would offer the only path to financial freedom for millions of Americans. When Obama said "yes we can", I thought he was giving out coded winning numbers. I was so wrong!
- Time Travel- This is a no-brainer! Right now, we are inches away from the ability to travel through time. As I type this, Ronald Mallett, a Connecticut University professor is preparing for experiments which could lead to a working time machine. But he needs funding! Fund this man's work President Obama! Time travel can be the solution to all our nation's woes. You see, with a time machine any American can travel into the future and get some household robots. Or they can travel into the past and win the lottery! It's a perfect plan, but it needs the President's support!
So there you have it. I am sorely disappointed in our President. I am tired of defending his non-roboting, one-way time travel America. Perhaps in the comments some of you can make the arguments that the Obama administration has been something more than an abysmal failure. I am not holding my breath (and that's another thing...where is my breath holding machine?---I always wanted one of those). Please comment and vote in my poll below
